Day 1 = How do you prepare for your upcoming week!?
🌊 Happy Sunday! (Or… whatever your Day 1 is)
Now, I’m not sure what you count as the first day of your week, but for me, it’s Sunday. That’s changed a few times — shift work at the hospital had me so mixed up I was lucky to remember what month it was — but these days, working Monday–Thursday with Island Health has restored some structure to my world.
Why Sunday? Because it’s my foundation day. The day that sets the tone for the week ahead. Here’s what it looks like:
Cold dip in the ocean – Yes, I’m that person. Coffee in hand, surf booties on, questioning my life choices for the first 10 seconds, and then remembering why I love it. It’s quiet, it’s grounding, and it’s just me, the ocean, and the occasional curious seal.
Church – If you’ve never been, think of it as a mix between a concert (sometimes lively, sometimes calm) and a TED Talk — but with a spiritual twist. It’s where I get perspective, peace, and usually something that speaks right to my heart. My family loves it too — even the kids walk out refueled for the week.
Meal prep & music – After groceries, I throw on a podcast or some tunes, chop veggies like I’m auditioning for a cooking show, and get us ready for the week. It’s surprisingly meditative — busy hands, quiet mind.
Family dinner & walk – We usually host our niece (a busy UVic student), catch up over dinner, and maybe wander down to the dock or around the neighborhood before calling it a night.
And just like that — Sunday sets the rhythm.
